Purity in every part
Materials are at the heart of our work to make healthy furniture for healthy homes. We are uncompromising in our search for sustainable, non-toxic, and luxurious materials that perform to our highest standards.
FSC® CERTIFIED HARDWOODS
We only use Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC) certified hardwoods. FSC employs the most rigorous standards for sustainable harvesting, responsible forest management, and contribution to local communities. We compliment this supply with local reclaimed options from blight, fires, and other environmentally related events.
We substitute toxic petroleum-based materials with high-quality, biodegradable polymers that are upcycled from plant and timber waste into PLA. Our 3D printers use PLA to print many of our elegant pieces. On rare occasions, we supplement our PLA with inks and dyes to achieve a rich color.
RECYCLED ALUMINUM & STEELS
Metals are endlessly recyclable. We use only recycled materials and highly recyclable metal materials from reputable and trusted suppliers in all of our products.
Our furniture requires finishes, sealants, and adhesives in many cases. To every degree possible, we select materials that are eco-friendly, non-toxic, water-based, and ultra-low VOCs including Waterborne Alkyd Varnish, Varnish Oil, Eco-Flo Leather Weld Adhesive, and Eco-Epoxy sealer. Even as all of these options are eco-friendly, none are perfect and we are always pursuing new, innovative finishes and adhesives that are non-toxic and clean.
We use eco-friendly textiles like 100% wool that is certified Cradle-to-Cradle, naturally flame resistant, and non-toxic. Our feathers are ethically sourced. The latex used in cushioning is non-toxic, GOLS-certified organic latex. We use non-toxic veg-tanned leather made from recycled material.
We keep packing materials to a minimum. However, luxury furnishings also require the highest level of care when shipping them. When shipping, we use biodegradable peanuts, recycled cardboard content boxes, recycled paper and paper packing tape, among other 100% recycled, recyclable, and biodegradable materials.
